Cannington Annual Show - Saturday 26th, Sunday 27th Novenber 2011
The Cannington Annual Show is held at the Cannington Exhibition Centre at the corners of Station Street and Albany Hwy, late November for two days (Saturday and Sunday). Entry is free and it is well attended by the general public. People can admire the palms and cycads on display and also have the opportunity to buy some rare and exotic plants. Definitely a good day out!
Monthly Club Meeting
The Palm and Cycad Society of Western Australia conducts monthly meetings, on the forth tuesday of every month at the South Perth Rotary Club in Sandgate Street, Como. Meetings start 7.30pm and end at 10pm. At the meetings, members discuss palms and cycads and any other related issues. There are guest speakers and slide presentations on the night covering a variety of subjects. Rare and unusual plants are on raffle and the "bring and buy" bench offers a range of plants for sale at outstanding prices. Tea, coffee and supper is provided after the nights activities.
Club Library
If you want to enrich your knowledge about palms and cycads, become a member and join our library, which now has more then 90 palm and cycad books and hundreds of magazines available for loan, free to any member of the society.
Garden Week
The society is invited to participate and display at the show, which is held at Perry Lakes every year in April.
May Auction - Tuesday 22nd May 2012
The palm and cycad annual auction is held in May of every year. The auction provides a real chance to buy some sought after, rare palms and cycads. Don't miss this opportunity if you are a keen collector!
Annual General Meeting
The A.G.M is held in July of every year, where members have the chance to endorse and appoint new club candidates.
Quiz Night
Held in August of every year. This is a fun and enjoyable night with major prizes to be won!
Bus Trip
The societies bus trip is normally held in October, where members have the chance to visit and admire some fine gardens, parks and nurseries.
